How to Ease into the Second Pregnancy with a Child

all about pregnancy

No two pregnancies are ever the same, and this statement holds the most truth when a woman experiences her second pregnancy. The exciting experience that dominated the first pregnancy, takes a back seat, while fatigue and having no time for yourself is the one driving the car this time. But there’s absolutely no need to worry because we’ve got you covered.

Here are a few ways on how to ease your second pregnancy with a child:

1. Value naps:

If your first child still takes naps around the day, then that is your cue to take naps as well. By all means, sleep when your toddler sleeps. The first trimester is a vulnerable time when you are exhausted by running around a little one as well as growing a baby inside you.

2. Get help:

You don’t need to prove it to anyone that you are a super mama, not even to yourself! Be willing to take help especially if it is being offered to you. If not then don’t hesitate to ASK for it from your loved ones. If that’s not the case, then hire some help. Getting help for even little chores can really help to get some load off you. Even if someone is willing to help for just an hour, grab the opportunity to either take a nap or do anything that makes you feel good. Never be ashamed to ask for help!

3. Keep your child busy:

While you are preparing for the arrival of your second baby, it is SO important to teach your first baby how to keep themselves busy. You need time to regain your energy, now and for the near future, so engaging your toddler with some quiet activities that would keep them hooked up for a considerable amount of time go a long way. Now would also be a good time to introduce the idea of a younger sibling or a new baby to your toddler. This can be in the form of books, or toys, or even a baby-sized doll.

4. Plan accordingly:

If you find yourself running out of time to get things done in the morning, then simply start planning things in advance. Prepare your morning activities such as making meal plans and charts. You could even get some chopping work done the night to get you a head start the next morning.

5. Let go of expectations:

It is okay if your home isn’t neat and tidy all the time. You don’t need to clean the mess that your toddler created right away. Instead get some help to do it for you, or do it later, or the best option would be to incorporate your toddler into little household chores, like cleaning his own toys after he is done playing with them. It is absolutely all right to let go of a few things along the way. Utilize that time by getting some rest.

We know this is going to be a tough season in your life, but hang in there mama, you got this!
